Some problems in 3D
I use the 3.04.1 version:
I don\'t find anything about volumes of revolution. In the guide is written "select Plot as 2D" but I didn\'t find that command. in 3D in "Edit Axes" it no exists "Lighting", is a problem of the graphics card? in 3D selecting a point and a line: it doesn\'t draw the closest point, contextual menu suggest only "normal plane". in 3D selecting two skew lines: it doesn\'t draw the closet point (contextual menu don\'t suggest it). in 3D selecting two skew lines: it doesn\'t calculate angle between (contextual menu don\'t suggest it). |

Re: Some problems in 3D
Volumes of revolution and the editing of lighting only became available in version 3.10. This is a free upgrade from v.3.04.1 and is available from your dealer.
The other features you mentioned should all be availabe in v.3.04.1 as detailed below: > in 3D selecting a point and a line: it doesn\'t draw the > closest point, contextual menu suggest only "normal > plane". Select a straight line and a point and "Closest Point" should be avaliable in the right-click menu. You should not have an option for "Normal Plane" so this suggests that you perhaps don\'t have the correct objects selected. > in 3D selecting two skew lines: it doesn\'t draw the closet > point (contextual menu don\'t suggest it). > in 3D selecting two skew lines: it doesn\'t calculate angle > between (contextual menu don\'t suggest it). Selecting two straight lines (and nothing else) should give the right-click option "Shortest Distance" and also "Angle between Lines". Hope this helps. |

Re: Some problems in 3D
We at Bedford School have just upgraded to version 3. I have been running a 1 user copy for a year without problems, so we decided to let everyone have a go. The 3D part does not work, saying we need DirectX v9. We have this in place but still no joy.
The school operates a system with a few main servers where the software resides, then many terminals operating in a time-sharing mode. This means the typical user has no local processing power (it all happens at the server level). the server has a 3D graphics card, and directX v9 I am concerned that the 3D part will only work in a one-user-one-PC mode. Can anyone throw any light on this? |
