intersections parametric and cartesian equations
Ive been reading through the guides and watching the tutorial videos however i have yet been unable to find a way of finding the intersection between a cartesian and a parametric equation. When you have two cartesian it is simple you right click with both selectected and click solve f(x)=g(x). With a parametric equation this option does not exist.
I have the following equations cartesian y=(8/3)x-(23/6) parametric x=4cos(2t),y=3sint How would i find the intersections of these equations. Thanks. |

Re: intersections parametric and cartesian equatio
Hi Trevor,
Unfortunately intersections between parametric and cartesian equation are not supported at this time. The best you can do for the time-being is to use the powerful zoom tools to get very close to the intersection and then read off the coordinates. Rearranging the parametric in the form of a quadratic x = a(y - b)^2 + c will make it easier to find the intersections analytically. Simon |
