Best fit polynomials
My students have used best fit polynomials order 6 and 4 to fit curves to their data. The equation given for the curve does not match the curve. This was noticed when they tried to use the equation as a model for the data and found extremely large percentage errors. When the equation of the best fit polynomial is typed in, it produces a different curve.
What are we doing wrong? |

Re: Best fit polynomials
Sorry to hear about this.
1. What version are you on (v.2 or v.3) - though that will not make any difference to the performance of this feature. 2. I have tried loads of different data, and cannot reproduce your problem. The equation fits perfectly every time. Can you please send some examples of it failing? Either send an ".agg" file or a screenshot to support@autograph-maths.com Many thanks Douglas |
